The Flower Farm
The Flower Farm is at the heart of The Unwalled Garden. We grow our flowers to give our brides the best of the season they can’t find anywhere else.
We grow flowers with sustainable practices throughout the year with an ever-changing array of blooms week on week. As a floral designer the heart of my business is working with the seasons, nurturing each seedling into bloom at just the right moment to create arrangements and installations that reflect the natural world around us.
As a florist, I know from experience that typing into google ‘seasonal wedding flowers’ probably won’t give you the answers you are looking for and instead create a huge amount of confusion, so take a look at each of the seasons to give you inspiration for flowers at any time of year.
Spring
I think every season is my favourite season but Spring is especially special, after the long months of winter it brings so much joy to see the garden in bloom again. I think it is often assumed that there are not many flowers to choose from in Spring but the flower beds are overflowing! With so much variety it is a feast to be able to harvest our tulips, narcissi, ranunculus, anemones, camassia and even some sweet peas in April.
Summer
A snapshot of our farm in the summer months, full of colour, variety and scent. We spend the evenings and early mornings cutting avoiding the heat of the day, whilst the bees get to enjoy the pollinators. This is the season of abundance when everything is bursting at the seams with colour and fragrance.
Autumn
Some of the most glorious days in the garden before the weather turns. Filled with sunflowers, chrysanthemums, dahlias, cosmos and other sun loving flowers. This can often be the most beautiful time of year for celebrations, where everything is touched with golden light.
